Product Update May 2026 — Collect Documents Faster.

This month, we are giving deal teams a structured way to manage document collection from clients. One list, one folder, one validation step. Combined with clearer buyer-side visibility and traceable AI answers, this release removes the back-and-forth that slows due diligence down.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRODUCT TEAM

"Managing document requests used to mean emails, spreadsheets, and manual sorting. Now the client uploads, and Blackroom does the classification work."

This month's release is built around one core workflow: structured document requests. The banker defines what is needed, the client uploads into a dedicated folder, and Blackroom suggests where each file belongs in the index. The banker validates. Nothing gets lost, nothing gets misplaced.

Request List

This is the headline feature of our May release. Bankers can now create a structured Request List directly inside the data room — a checklist of documents to collect from the client, with a name, description, and status for each item. The client uploads their files into the Unsorted Documents folder. Blackroom then analyzes each document and suggests a classification according to the data room index, with a confidence score. The banker reviews the suggested classification and either validates it or adjusts it before the file is moved into place. The result is a fully traceable document collection process, from request to validation, without a single email thread.

Benefit — One place to track what has been requested, what has arrived, and where it belongs.

Suggested Classification by Index

When a client uploads a document into the Unsorted Documents folder, Blackroom automatically suggests the correct location in the index based on document content and structure. Each suggestion includes a confidence score. The banker approves or reclassifies in a single click. No manual sorting, no files landing in the wrong folder.

Benefit — Documents reach their correct location faster, with human validation at every step.

View As

Administrators can now switch into any user's perspective directly from the Users panel. With one click, they see the data room exactly as that user sees it — which folders are accessible, which documents are visible, and what permissions are in effect. Access issues can be identified and resolved before they affect the deal timeline.

Benefit — Verify access configuration instantly, without asking the client to report what they can or cannot see.

AI Answers Now Cite Their Sources

When the AI assistant generates an answer in the Q&A section, it now references the exact document and page it drew from. Every AI-generated answer is traceable back to a source. Buyers gain transparency. Sell-side teams retain full control over what is published.

Benefit — AI-assisted Q&A that is auditable at every step.
